To me, his car and most other steel cities gray cars look darker than mine is. But yeah, now that I've got that section polished up, I think it's close enough.
I did some wet sanding on the drivers side of the hood last night. I did a little bit of the passenger side a couple weeks ago so now the hood is mostly done.
Recently we tried a 5000 grit sanding pad on a Civic my dad rebuild after wet sanding with 2000, and it came out really really nice. If you haven't already it may take the paint to the next level. Great progress!
I got my parts from Willcox today, so when I get a chance, I'll get the other 2 tail lights wired up and the emblem installed.

Thanks. I figured that's what the polish is for but maybe I'll give that a shot since I need to buy more sandpaper anyway.
I also wet sanded the top of the rear bumper and most of the driver's side rear fender. I think I messed up and went through the clear on one spot on the bumper so I guess I've got some touch up to do.
I finished wet sanding the hood, hood surround, and front bumper tonight. I think if I can put in an hour a day this weekend, I'll be done wet sanding this weekend. I decided not to do the 5000 grit because I think it'll show all the flaws more. My goal is to get it just a bit shinier than the fender I already polished. I would have taken a photo of my progress but it was a bit too dark out by the time I was done.
Finished wet sanding everything but the t-tops last night. Today I'm gonna go get more rubbing compound and polish and at least get it rubbed out today.
I rubbed out and polished the car today. The green in the paint shows up much better now. I'm pretty happy with the way it looks. There are quite a few spots where I could have done a better job wet sanding (like the entire rear deck) but I can fix those spots anytime. Maybe someday I'll wet sand up to 5000 grit and polish like junkyard_dog72 suggested to get a deeper shine. After I finished polishing the back bumper, I drilled the holes and installed the emblem. I wanted to clean out the interior today but I spent a ridiculous amount of time putting the luggage rack back on. The new well nuts I got are very easy to push through the holes, and I pushed one through into the rear deck reinforcement. I ended up drilling a 5/8" hole in that and fished around in there from the top with a bent coat hanger to get it out. While I was at it, I drilled another hole near the other well nut so when (not if) I push that one through in the future, it'll be easier to get it back. After getting that out of there, I spent at least a half hour trying to fix the threads on one of the luggage rack screws that got chewed up somehow.
Here are some photos I took while polishing. I don't think the photos really do it justice:
Impressive work for sure and I love your paint booth
Glad to see the support from the forum as well.
Keep it up, my man.
Thanks. It was a pretty good paint booth. Plenty of airflow. I probably broke a few laws doing that though haha.
Today I put the valance and air dam back on, washed the car because there was a bunch of dried up polish on there that I missed yesterday, cleaned up the interior, and scraped a bunch of overspray and duct tape residue off the windows. Doesn't look much different than yesterday but I'll post a photo anyway.
