Another night in the garage has showed some improvement as well as some more repairs, I had to adjust the pivot struts so I could get a little more tilt on the clip. Well when I tried to adjust the length on the pivot lets just say that the torch had a workout to get it to move, in the end it did move and adjustments were made.

Hi DUB sorry for the delay, horizontal bars if I'm correct your thinking the doors may be a later vintage as I believe side impact protection was added in 73. I believe these are the original doors though they could have been changed with all the challenges this car has. I took these pics of the inside, sorry they are not the best but I see no bars in the doors.

So while we are discussing body alignment what to do here? I sat a couple of batteries on it and the hood would lay down, I think the previous owner used the now eliminated hood pins to pull the hood down into place.

Well a busy time spent in the garage ... and on the road at a west end car cruise so here is the progress.

Things were a little out of place ...

So if the cars at the Cruise night were not enough I came across a Steel Cities Grey coupe so I took a pic of the wiper door gaps to compare.

Today I did some more alignment and fitting.

Thanks for the reply.. I was worried that the doors may be off a later car and the top of the door can be a bit different.

Looks like the area at the top of the rear area of the door is going to have to be filled in and shaped.

The rear door is something I had to do also Dave. A little VPA molding to get all the profiles right. YOU can do it!

Sorry haven't posted in a while but rest assured work has progressed on the 71 and I will put up the progress shortly.

In the mean time, I have sort of followed The Bats lead on tearing down the Photo Bucket account ... what a pain in the A$$, I have been slowly restoring the photos to the site using the Forum tools and hope for at least a 90% restoration when completed. Unfortunately I did not meet my Auto Fest 2017 target this year as things happen and we do change our direction periodically (find that listed under "death of your Budget!") I did attend the show driving my Brothers 55 Chev delivery so all was not lost.

Anyway that's it for now, updates soon, ... and the beat goes on ...

OK here I have an idea, time for a flash back show! LOL Here is a quick look back to where it started ...

Pennsylvania ...

Home ...

Aliens were here ...

Lift off or drop down, you decide ...

Bad welds and repairs with a slight tweak to the right ...

The repair ...

Gussets anyone ...

And then there were the brakes ...

This is a brief recap with some before unseen footage, this car was a wreak, an internet purchase and was exactly what I wanted, it still provides the challenges I need and the work I enjoy.

... and the beat goes on ...

EXACTLY! Never be afraid of flashbacks (unless you've been in combat)

Well I've not been in combat (and thank you for your service for those that have) but I have gone a few rounds with this car and I think I'm winning at this point.

All it takes is time and then you redo a lot as things don't always work out or work out the way you want them to, but when its right for you then you move on .... more pics ... ok.

I said it before I'll say it again "GILLS not GRILLS!!"
