Default Carbon Edition Hood Installed

Dropped my Carbon Edition hood off at the paint shop & they had it painted & back to me this afternoon. Still working on fitment but man this looks good. Will have better pics when I get it fitted correctly.

Anyone know if the Carbon hood requires different hood struts due to the much lighter weight?

No on the struts. I used my stock hood struts and work perfectly. Best hood out there for the Z06. Congrats.

Thanks. I’m having issues getting it to sit flush where it meets the front fascia, it’s sitting up about 1/4 inch?

Jabcat, I didn't have any issues at the front , it actually should sit a little lower than the fascia. Have you tried to adjust the latches at the rear and also lower the bumpers at the rear. Sometimes it takes some tinkering with all the above to get it right. Two sets of hands helps also, so you might want to grab a buddy to help you. Good luck . It's worth spending the time to get it right. Beautiful car.

If you need a second pair of hands, let me know. I'll come up and lend you mine.

i didn’t have a whole lot of time to mess with it because I had to get my son to swim practice. I think the adjustment needs to be made on the hinge at the front. I’ll also check the latches at the rear but they don’t have a lot of play. I did notice that it doesn’t have the weight to lower & latch all the way by itself like the stock hood. It is a great quality part tho - and should be for the $$

Yes they are quite expensive and not easy to find. I just went out to look at my hood on the Callaway. Two adjustments might be a good first step. One is where the front brackets screw into the hood ( two bolts on each side) I think the bracket is slotted there. Also moving the entire hinge where it bolts to the frame rails would affect the height of the front hood, but you can't do much there because it controls the hood gap at the front. Again make small adjustments. Let us know what adjustments worked when you get it adjusted.

I didn't think it was too bad compared to some of the aftermarket hoods out there. Picked it up for $2,428 & it took five days from placing my order until it arrived at the dealer. Paint cost me $400 & I dropped it off this morning at 9 & picked it up at 5. Left them my fuel door to match the paint & it came out perfect. They even painted the lip on the underside around the exposed carbon fiber which I was worried about - can't tell from factory.

I'm going to make some small adjustments to the two bolts on each side - to be fair, my 9 year old was helping me hold it in place because he was the only one home

I believe this hood weighs only 10-11lb. It is easily 1/2 of the stock hood, if not more. It is so light it almost flew out of my Jeep (top was off) when I took it to the paint shop.

Thank you! The cosmetic mods are almost done, just waiting on my seat skins ( and may cover my interior plastics with leather). Then it's time to start boosting performance
