C8 can't catch a break in the media...

Seems like every day the C8 is getting less than glowing media coverage. Not sure if this is because the initial hype was so high or if people just had unrealistic expectations for the first mid-engine Corvette or if people are just piling on at this point. I do not plan on getting a C8 Z51 but if GM can work out the initial kinks for the Z06 then I will definitely be taking a look then. I think the base C8 will be a great street car and something to take on weekend trips.
Comments on the site on the link above are interesting as well.

The problem? The historically unmistakable Corvette silhouette is gone. And now, it’s generic.

This is an opinion piece based on feelings and feedback from other people who have driven the car. I get some of the points the author is making but external styling, for example, is so subjective.
Personally I think he should drive one for himself before he states:
There have been times where I thought I did not like or want a car and changed my mind later.

But I don’t want it. I won’t want it.

Every article that has been done by that website on the C8 has been extremely negative. Probably a bunch of Mustang guys

You know what they say about opinions...
and mine is they should have made it look better . No issue with the quality or performance numbers they've put out... I just don't like the rear. Hoping the Z06 variant will have better eye appeal.

Another manual guy saying he is not interested and the best vette in his eyes was the C5 with the Fisher Price cheap A interior. I have owned a C5 Z, C6 & two C7’s and many exotics. I look forward to getting my C8 Z51 and Z, I get to sit and see a C8 in person tomorrow. If nothing major jumps out when I view it Thursday, my car will be one of the first arriving once the UAW gets back to work.

But I need to see it in person. And sometimes things grow on you. But everytime I see it next to a C7 I keep thinking I like the C7 profile better, especially the rear.
But one of the things I did not like about the C7 was the massive hood... So go figure.. I can't win.

It doesn’t live up to the GM hype at this point. After seeing it in person I can’t help but think this car is going to cost GM less to produce than the C7. After truly looking the car over it seems to be devoid of content over the C7. In fact I’m convinced this car is going to be cheaper to build than previous generations. The architecture is much more simple.
It's not like the base model has a 4 cylinder Ecotec engine or less tech, etc.

He's basing his opinion on the looks and on the car and driver article. So what...
Also if you click on the writer's name "Timothy Cain", every single article he has written is negative.

It's called clickbait. Sadly people are more likely to click on an article with a title that is outlandish and defies common sense.

This poor c8 just can't catch a break. Only 37k pre-orders so far.

And..... If you really want to know, take one to the corner Chevron and watch people flip out... that absolutely WILL HAPPEN....
