Jason Cammisa (Motor1.com) on the MT dyno test
Background: Cammisa is a former Motor Trend employee(notably a co-host of their popular YouTube shows before they went behind a paywall), now working as a writer/editor for multiple publications. Yes, he said that the C8 is "Not great, but good", but he also tends to praise Chevrolet performance cars for their handling and engines.

The fact of the matter is... he is 100% right. There is zero change the C8 makes 650hp. Its just not possible out of the factory LT2 motor. In order to reach those power levels on the LT1 you need E85, a massive Cam, sometimes a sleeved block to a 416/427 and several other bolt ons with an aggressive tune. This would be incredibly obvious if the LT2 was strained to this level. While its entirely possible the LT2 is underrated, it will make a max of 550bhp, no where near 650.
Even if it were theoretically 650hp, its 1/4 mile run would be embarrassingly slow then. 650hp in this configuration would be good for a 10.3-10.5 1/4 mile at 128+mph. Not 11.1 @123 lol. Use some common sense...

It's obvious to anyone who knows anything about modifying engines that you can't get an extra 140-160 hp out of a naturally aspirated motor without considerable changes in sound, reliability, and driveability, if at all.
At least someone in the Automotive media is taking a solid stance against Motor Trend's test.

Well, given the fact MotorTrend's original report of the bullshit dyno run was an intentional act of unadulterated dishonesty, does it really matter what they say in response?
MotorTrend intentionally lied about a BS dyno number that they knew/know the LT2 doesn't come near to making. The only thing I'd accept from MT at this point is them fully owning that.

Jason Cammisa is a clueless idiot.
Why do people insist on spamming Corvette Forum with links to what this moron has to say?

Soooooo. You think that the car really makes 650hp?
Why does Jason suck? He's brutally honest (with his opinion). And?

I’ve got to believe and would be hard pressed to believe otherwise that if GM/Chevrolet/Corvette could have launched/revealed the C8 with higher HP/TQ numbers than 495/470 respectively, they certainly would have done so, all day long and twice on Sunday.

Ahhhh NO, he is NOT well respected by real journalists.
There is a reason he's no longer at Motor Trend.
This moron, others like him, and all the idiots pretending to be experts on YouTube, are only followed by clueless people who have even less experience and knowledge than these clowns pretending to be experts.
I'm convinced these fake experts and wannabe celebrities are behind the spam and "supportive" posts they get on this forum.
It's all obvious spam.

pretty sure the Fonz and Motor Trend have this moment in their histories in common.

Because negative C8 articles get the most attention.
I do find it interesting that when Matt Farah from The Smoking Tire first test drove the C8 on the track he was blown away by it, but when he started discussing it with the rest of the Road & Track crew is impression changed. Road & Track folks seem to be the outliner.
