This post is not telling the whole story.

1. This car has the front timing cover oil leak which requires a lot of work at the front of the engine to clean and reseal it.

2. The cars that have "the tick" have a noise far in excess of the normal valvetrain noise these cars make. My car is fine... the noises are normal mechanical things. The cars w/ the tick sound like they have an exhaust leak. It's not a "little noise".

That said, if I had one that was ticking, I'd put some miles on it and drive it hard to see if it changed before having dealer tear car apart for it.

Time to sell this one and get one without the ticking noise. The LT6 without hydraulic lifters does have a more mechanical sounding valve train, not to be confused with a ticking noise.

I do hear the mechanical valve train on my '24 Z06 after it reaches operating temperature. The motor runs just fine. So I am not sure if that is the normal sound or might it be the ticking issue as well. How do you differentiate the two sounds?

Noise varying in sound level and timing in a given rpm is what I would consider 'ticking sound'.

The mechanical sound of valve train in consistent and persistent. Like a sewing machine. As the engine heats up the mechanical sound should get quieter. If it's excessive that is not good either (too large of a valve lash).

Perfect time to have the valve covers and intake custom painted......

This was already posted awhile ago and less than .01% have some ticking noise.

I have 8000 trouble free miles. No ticks, no CELs, and no other problems. Only issue is the car is loud.

When I used to work on cars, we used to put engine parts on a workbench...not on the floor.

I am sure the guy will bolt it all back up fine, but if I walked in, and this was my car, we would sure be having a talk.

I would be trading that in for something else. Worse than a low-speed impact car fax, by far.

This is what happened. This thread should be titled "if you have a Z06 with an oil leak, this is what has to be done to fix it"

I think before mine got gutted like a fish, I would probably try this. It's what it's made to fix and if you can see the leak from underneath (with the belly pan off), clean it with some brake clean and spray this on. What's the worst case, it doesn't seal and six months from now they drop the engine and do that extensive work on it? I've circled where the factory wasn't getting enough RTV on the joint that causes the leak.

And if I were the tech working on your car and you did that, I'd hand you the keys and tell you to have fun getting your car, in its current condition, out of my shop.

Here's a fun thought: be nice to the folks working on your car. Telling them how to do their job is the best way to make sure they never want to help you again.

I’m not a mechanic …but parts shouldn’t be scattered on the floor like that plus they should cover engine for debris from
a other job .
I’m an electrical contractor and i take pride of what i do cleanliness is important .

The story goes the main concern it went in for was the ticking, Then they noticed the engine was leaking oil like a sieve.

That very well may be true, but the ONLY reason it was disassembled to that point was for the oil leak that is covered in a TSB.

From the picture, the engine is on a work bench/cart. Other parts are on oil rags.

Yeah, cover the engine while they are working on it, yeah ok. You obviously have never been in a mechanics shop. You guys are acting like the shop area is huge mess, It isnt. And I work with electricians, they arent exactly known for housekeeping, just like all the other trades.
