Default ATTACK BLUE Filter worth it

Can people who have gotten ATTACK BLUE FILTER let me know if they feel it was worth it?

Drop-in filters are cheap and proven to be worth about +5whp. To me, yes, they're worth it. I also appreciate cleanable/reusable vs. disposable. With that said, I moved on to bigger & better with a full air intake system.

The installed picture featured on AB's website is actually a photo I took from when I installed the AB on my car shortly after it was new.

Can anyone confirm if it affects the sound/ loudness of the exhaust & how it affects it?

It will not have a perceivable change to your exhaust volume; you will hear a little additional induction sound.

I have had mine for about 6mo. It is not some drastic change and most people won't be able to tell a difference most of the time. I notice it the most with the valves closed, there is a bit more induction noise when rolling into the throttle mid RPM.

Plus that 5hp bump makes me feel like I can say 500hp car and not 495 ... Seriously GM couldn't find 5 more HP for a nice round 500 from factory?

If I were doing it again I would have waited until the original filter needed changing but it was also super cheap and was fun to take apart the rear trunk area!

Worth is in the eye of the beholder. No it's not worth 5HP to me because you can't feel little stuff like that.

It's a waste of money for a filter that for a minor 5 HP increase (if you can even believe that) lets fine dirt particles into the engine inlet air versus the stock filter. The fact that they say it can be cleaned should tell you everything you need to know about how good it filters the air. But a wise man said, it's easier to fool someone than convince them that they've been fooled. Don't be a fool.

100 per hp is the best value out there mod wise- I agree with kracka on the full intake but if you don't want to do that this a super efficient cost wise addition with a little benefit

Default 1 Per Center

Not sure how they determine this miniscule delta? But it is insignificant to all but the most naive.

@Walt White Coupe Do you think the OEM air filters never get dirty or never need to be replaced? You sure are a wise one.

We can all have our own opinion but many small changes do change a cars character over time. I have the drop in filter, PS4S tires on my NonZ51 car, z51 rear sway bar, upgraded brake pads, and I have High Flow Cats in the closet waiting to be installed. I like to tinker on my own car and for the huge cost of a full intake (like 2500) for another 5HP on top of the attack blue no thank you. I will have all of my mods done for less cost than a Carbon Fiber intake system. All of these changes I have done has made me faster at autocross and the car more enjoyable. Yes I could have just gotten a Z51 but I actually do not enjoy limit driving cars with ELSD's. Mechanical diffs are much better at predictability and reduced complexity. I will also at some point do coilovers so Mag ride would have just been thrown away.

GM has previously sold non paper filter as part of a cold air intake through their GM Performance division that has no effect on warranty so clearly GM is okay with the material type.

Many of you only use your Corvette's as weekend cars and cruising so for ya'll NO the filter is no added value. If you don't push your car or run 10/10ths most mods won't be notice in daily driving. For those of us that do participate in those type of events this is a good step in maximising every possible ounce out of the car. I only do autocross not full track days(cost, risk to car/self, time commitment) but even the small changes I have made can be measured in times and feel. Plus its just fun to tinker with the car and make it your own!

I see on the pictures above, but they have dismantled the rear cover panel, is this just to show that filter for this discussion or do you have to run with your back panel off?

My pictures are from the install process. The car was then fully reassembled as these drop-in air filters are designed for use with the stock airbox. The process is no different than installing a new OEM paper air filter. Same goes for my full intake system; no change in appearance or trunk usage.

Of course, they get dirty and need to periodically be replaced. And you throw them away.

Not worth it, they recommend you clean it every 10,000 miles and replace it at 50,000 miles. Nothing but a hassle and the reviews I watched noticed no increase in exhaust volume and negligible hp increase.

PSA:
While I tend to agree that a simple air filter change (to a different, less restrictive unit) may or may not be worth the time, money, or effort for what might be a minuscule (at best) performance bump or no bump at all, let’s just give the OP your honest feedback and not try to oversell, undersell, hype up, or marginalize a product. Contemptuous criticism or reviews are not useful to the community or the OP asking for feedback.
