Default Can I get some feedback on this 62

A friend is looking at purchase. Honduras maroon, with fawn interior. Comes with a FI as shown in the pictures. It's not on the car, but comes with it on purchase.. Stamp pad looks really bad to me. Priced at around 75K. I have more pictures if you want to see something specific. Do you think it's a real fuelie? Underside is clean. Doesn't appear to have any significant rust. I think that the car is in Georgia. Your comments, thoughts, please.......Thank you!

It's a shame they boogered up the stamp pad like they did. Bad,bad . Don't see where it might be a fuelie car other than the tach. Nice looking car, but that's all the money.

If memory serves, "SB" suffix on the pad indicates a PowerGlide engine. I don't remember that being a Corvette suffix, though.

(I reserve the right to be wrong.)

Suffix SB was used 1962 thru 1964 for passenger cars with 327 300hp 4bbl Powerglide. Not Corvette. The far left hand stamped number is the VIN derivative for a Chevy built at Flint Assembly, Flint MI.

The two nuts/bolts on the upper inside LH fender for FI air cleaner mounting.

But, those can always be added.

Its really rather pointless whether it was an original FI car, or not, IMO.

The car looks nice, though.

Thank you all..... I think I got enough reinforcement. I told him to pass, or buy the car for a lot less money. Thank you again.

Impressive data you've supplied.....

Mike, if was a real tanker it'll have evidence in the top well, with 2 large circular holes in the outside rear corners for the big tank to fit. Among other "features".

thanks Rich, That post that AOSL 79 put up had nothing to do with the question that I asked. His information was from a 1980 for sale ad.

I would think an ad for a car for sale from 1980 would be really helpful when looking at the same car for sale today, and trying to figure out the provenance of the car?

but then maybe I don't know anything about the subject...

(many years ago I sold a 61 Chevy convertible, 2bbl 283, PG car. Years later I googled the VIN for the car and found an ad for it for sale as an original 348 tripower 4 speed car)

But it's not the same car????? There is no evidence that this car was ever a tanker. That post has been removed. If it was the same car, then I agree with you.

It was the same VIN, 1962 #5083 FI, 4 speed, posi, 24 gallon fuel tank, 4.11 rear axle. 10 coats of hand rubbed Honduras Maroon with new black interior.

Maybe it's not the same car, but it is the same vin. I did a little searching-I'm not an expert, but another forum post said they made 65 24 gallon tankers in 1962. A very rare car if that's what it actually WAS.

Offered by a Sam Lombard in Louisville for 15k.

A little discussion about tankers.
