Default fuel level

Just wondering about how much fuel is left when other z owners fill their tank. I replaced my fuel pump and sending unit with racetronix e85 compatible pump ,sending unit and harness. I didnt own the car long enough to measure the old set up before I did the upgrade. When my needle touches the empty mark and I get the warning message It seems there is just shy of 3 gallons left. Usually takes 15.6 or so to fill. Thanks for any input. 2006

I once pulled into the gas station right as the gauge struck zero, it took 16~ just under. I think there’s a fairly large reserve.

I agree with the 3 gallons when it touches empty, and I am still on the stock setup.

I never let my tank go below 1/4 if I can help. Fuel is what cools the fuel pump, so running the tank low causes the pump to overheat and prematurely bun out the fuel pump.

I never even thought about the fuel acting as a cooling agent for the pump. That’s good to know. I have a sensor for e85 and would let the level get as low as possible when adding 93 or e85 depending what was in the tank.

Good advice. Thanks👍

I tried to burn the last bits of the Winter gas out and ran mine down until the second warning "low fuel" triggered on the DIC. I think I put around 16.2 in it after that.
