Default Just got a request to use my C8 for emissions testing

For $500, GM wants my C8 for 4 weeks and up to 150 miles.

Huge pass, no way I can go 4 weeks without my car.

That would be the deal of a century at only $17.85 daily rental cost for a C8.

Yeah, a program targeted at someone in a Malibu who thinks "Wow, I can drive a new car for 30 days and they'll pay my lease payment this month. This is my lucky day!".

Not going to work at the Corvette owner level.

Don't they trust the onboard readout? I'm sure they have it like everyones'.

Why don’t they just use Spystar to tell them how the car is running? The “emissions test” for state inspection is done my plugging into the car? If the car has the data why do they need to take physical possession? Are they saying the onboard diagnostics don’t work?

It might be an ok deal if they also give you an extended 8 year drivetrain warrantee.

They picked up the car for research on a dyno, dropped off a loaded Camaro and a week later returned the car after being detailed. They paid me about $1,000 and everyone was happy.

And now that Vettes cost twice as much they are offering half as much or in today's dollars, an oil change.

Regardless if you paid cash, GM needs to look at today’s average Auto Loan rate at 48 months on your car and what it costs you per month to own and THAT would be the starting point.

$500…How can they offer that with a straight face? Ridiculous and insulting.

You're missing the point. To validate that typical cars are "within spec" you test random cars that are owned by a party not affiliated with the company whose product is being tested. If you tested cars provided by the company that is being examined, they could have conceivably been tampered with to achieve the desired results. Can you say VW diesel-gate?
