Default Never purchasing anything from Corvette Central again

I placed an order on Corvette Central about a week ago for some lugnuts for my 79' from them for the original wheels as mine are the originals from 1979. I got them... and they looked quite a bit different than the originals... but I thought... "Eh, oh well... I'll try them out anyway. Everything is pretty much repro now with some changes." As I was putting them on... they bottomed out and broke the lugs. So, I called them back... asking what the hell... and I found out they sent me the ones for Cragar wheels. They guy I talked with... was just being beyond rude and said they would not take them back. So... I am never buying anything from Corvette Central ever again. That was just ridiculous.

I hear that - also never buy anything from Corvette South. 2 out of 2 times they screwed up (different orders). Then when confronted, they promise to fix it and don't. Took 2 months to get a weatherstrip kit (after 2 phone calls). The second time, I ordered window rubber strips - they sent me 2 rights. I called "right on its way" a week later called again "oh, __ was dealing with this, we'll take care of it" I said "email me" they didn't. Another week (mind you, they still haven't sent the part), I call them, same song and dance - tell them to refund my money - they say "sure." They don't. I get another phone call from them saying I need to send the second rubber strip back - so let me get this straight, you lie to me at least 4 times; and then you're going to send me another strip when I spend MORE money sending this piece back (large, expensive to ship).... no thanks, I should have gone with Ecklers (actually, I did go with ecklers and bought the other strip). I'm out $10, but I promised Corvette South I'd advertise for them. Be sure and let them know I'm keeping my word

So let's see- either you ordered the wrong part or they supplied the wrong part (we don't know, just have your word). Even though you noted that 'they looked quite a bit different' you installed them anyway. But then you torqued them so hard that you snapped the lugs (more than one?) themselves instead of stopping to find out what's wrong.

You installed these:

instead of these:

and it's somebody else's fault?

Yeah, may be my bad. I'm mostly blown away by the customer service and that they won't take them back.

Plus... Lugs are $2 a piece... not too bad to replace them when they break.

Probably because you rendered the lugnuts 'scrap' by overtorquing them.

I guess you haven't worked with aluminum threads because job one should be to always carefully seat a new bolt/stud/nut that you aren't sure about before going to torque. Even then crap can be ruined if you don't have enough thread engagement.

Just be happy it's the lug that snapped and not the stud.

Same... This was my first issue with them. I called in to place the order for original lug nuts this time, though. Then it just went south from there...

i've purchased two exhaust systems from cc without a problem. my only issue with them is that they're only 'order takers'-if you ask them about a part it's like talking to the register girl at mcdonalds.

Called them back and talked with somebody different... they are actually going to exchange them now for the right ones.

Wilcox always treats me right and they have great discount for the forums members here. That's the price you're seeing.

Not sure what we paid for shipping. Call them about it. Either way, you're still money ahead and Ernie stands behind their products
