Seldomly Seen

Over its decades in existence, there have been many special edition Corvettes, whether they've come from GM itself or various other places. However, one that we don't often see or hear doubt about is the Williams Design-modified C4 ZR1 that sported a host of modifications, including most notably, bodywork from Larry Shinoda. Recently, one of these rare rides was listed for sale at Bring a Trailer, however, which shines a bit of light on this seldom-seen model.

Low Mileage

This particular C4 ZR1 has bounced around a bit over the years, but still has just 1k miles on the odometer, and it's incredibly rare as just one of 14 examples modified by Williams Design. In this case, it's finished in Pearl Yellow paint covering its unique bodywork, and also features Rick Mears Special Edition badges.

Unique Rollers

This C4 rolls on a unique set of wheels and tires as well - 17-inch Elite six-spoke pieces wrapped with Sumitomo HTR tires measuring 275/40 in the front and 315/35 out back. Underneath, like every ZR1, it utilizes the Selective Ride and Handling package, along with four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes.

Many Amenities

Inside the cabin, one will find black leather sport bucket seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a variety of features that include the typical power accessories, cruise control, air conditioning, and tire pressure warning system, coupled with the Delco Bose Gold Series sound system.

Famous Powerplant

Power comes from the rather famous 5.7-liter LT5 DOHC V8 that was developed by GM and Lotus, but assembled by Mercury Marine. When new, it was rated to produce 375 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque, which flows to the rear wheels via a ZF six-speed manual transmission.

Good Buy?

When the hammer fell on this particular auction, the winning bidder shelled out $50,000 for their rather rare Corvette, which seems like a reasonable price - and a pretty decent sum of money for a C4, in general. However, we rarely see these cars pop up for sale in any condition, and this might just be the nicest one left.
