Notable Changes
While it may seem like the C8 Corvette just hit the streets, in reality, it's getting ready to enter its third year of production. So while GM isn't giving its iconic sports car any sort of overhaul just yet, the new model year does mean a few notable changes are on the way before the launch of the much-anticipated Z06 finally happens in 2023.

Exterior Colors
First up, it's worth noting that the 2022 Corvette will add three new exterior colors, which replace three discontinued colors. The new hues consist of Caffeine Metallic, Hypersonic Gray Metallic, and Amplify Orange Tintcoat, which replace Zeus Bronze Metallic,, Shadow Gray Metallic, and Sebring Orange Tintcoat.

LPO Options
Additionally, the 2022 Corvette loses its five-spoke Performance Pewter-painted aluminum wheels, which were a dealer-installed option. In its place come a host of new LPO options, which include a low rear spoiler and front splitter, Black Ground Effects, a High Wing Spoiler with visible carbon fiber, and Visible Carbon Fiber door intake trim.

Engine
GM has slightly revised the Corvette's LT2 V8 for 2022, making some minor changes to the powerplant's Active Fuel Management system, fuel delivery, and calibration, which help ensure that the Corvette can continue to meet federal emissions standards. Output remains unchanged, however.

New Package
The IMSA GTLM Championship Edition package is new for 2022 and includes the Z51 Performance Package, graphics mimicking the No. 3 and No. 4 Corvette C8.R racers with either an Accelerate Yellow exterior hue with gray graphics or Hypersonic Gray with yellow graphics, yellow brake calipers, Carbon Flash mirrors, black Trident wheels, black side rockers and splash guards, a Sky Cool Gray and Strike Yellow interior, GT2 seats, yellow seat belts, a numbered plaque, and a custom car cover.

Interior
Inside the cabin, not much is changing for the 2022 model year. In fact, the addition of dealer-installed illuminated door sill plates stands alone as the singular change for the new model year.

Already Here
Those wanting a 2022 Corvette will be happy to know that production began at GM's Bowling Green Plant back in September, which means that the first examples should already be landing in the hands of customers.
