Last of Its Breed

We're starting to see more and more C6 ZR1s popping up for sale recently, which isn't a huge surprise. After all, this car (along with the C7 ZR1) is essentially the last of its respective breed, at least in terms of front-engine, big horsepower Corvettes that provide a truly American driving experience. And this particular example brought out plenty of bidders as it hammered for a whopping $91,000 on Bring a Trailer recently.

Inside and Out

This particular C6 ZR1 was recently acquired from the original owner and subsequently passed onto its new owner with just 2k miles showing on the odometer. As a result, the Crystal Red beauty is in stunning condition, both on the outside and inside, where it's finished in a nice contrasting shade of Cashmere and black.

Rare and Original

Making this even more of a collector's item is the fact that 2013 was the last year for the C6 ZR1, and only 482 were built that particular model year. Just 27 of those were finished in Crystal Red Metallic, making this car quite rare. And it's also rather original, right down to the 285/30 and 335/25 Michelin Pilot Sport tires that show date codes from 2012.

Nicely Optioned

Inside, this ZR1 has carbon-fiber trim adorning the cabin and is also optioned with the 3ZR Premium Equipment Group, which consists of additional leather surfaces, power-adjustable and heated sport seats, a memory package, Bose stereo system, navigation, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Copious Power

The real star of the C6 ZR1 was its powerplant, of course - GM's supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 V8 that pumped out a then-incredible 638 horsepower and 604 pound-feet of torque, which flows to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip rear differential.

Brutal Beast

Prices of the C6 ZR1 are steadily rising, and for good reason. Some of us miss the days when Corvettes came with enough power to put us in a ditch, manual transmissions, and when launch control meant using your own two feet properly. The C8 is certainly a great car, but at the same time, plenty of people miss brutal beasts like this.
